July 27, 2012 Welcome to CK TAMU’S Blog!HOWDY!Welcome to Camp Kesem TAMU’s new blog!! I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer! Our counselors and administrators have been working hard as we anxiously prepare for camp in 16 days. We’re also very much looking forward to our first ever teen camp program this summer. We spent the last school year “making magic” to fundraise for camp while also having two successful camp reunions and tons of fun along the way! My name is Squirrel and I will be updating this blog and taking photos throughout the week of camp (August 12-18) so the parents will be able to check in and see what the campers are up to every day at camp. This is my second summer as a Camp Kesem TAMU counselor and I can honestly say that my experience as Camp Kesem counselor last summer was the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had! I know that this year’s camp will be just as rewarding and exciting. We had our counselor retreat earlier in July and all of our counselors are ready and pumped for camp! I hope that all of our campers are equally as excited and have begun to prepare for the following themed days: Monday- Outer Space Tuesday- Wild West Wednesday- Jungle Thursday- Fiesta Friday- Disney Theme days are OPTIONAL for everyone so don’t stress out over them! Also, all campers should have received information that included their unit color so don’t forget to bring some clothes in that color. Personally, I have begun collecting all of my RED clothes to bring to camp We have been working very hard to get all of our activities planned for camp and we will try our best to make sure that camp is unforgettable for all of our campers! Cinderella and Dr Doom are anxiously awating camp!! Thank you SO much to our counselor volunteers. We appreciate you giving up a week or more of your summer to make such a huge difference in the lives of children who suffer as much or more than their parents while the family endures the rigors of life with cancer.
Dr Dooms favorite activity last year ws ga ga and Cinderellas favorite part was getting to be with the awesome counselors!!! Moms favorite parts were the pictures that were posted, the super hero capes and the new helpful, supportive and positive attitude our kids displayed after being at Camp Kesem. Dad loved the picnic!!
