So, it’s been a crazy first year for us at Camp Kesem at Case Western! It’s been great fun seeing how much we’ve learned over the past few months. We’ve been through our fair share of ups and downs but ultimately, we stuck through. The best part of going through this journey is seeing just how much passion people have for this organization.
At Summit, we sat there as newbies while the older chapters flaunted their stuff. We were new to the whole culture and enthusiasm that surrounded Camp Kesem, but we were excited to get involved. Admittedly, it was a little intimidating to see all this energy and passion. We remember some of the other Kesemers, who had held camp before, telling us about how rewarding that one week of camp is. And while we haven’t had our camp yet, we have definitely grown some deep passion for bringing magic to the world. We have really seen our organization and the interest surrounding it grow a lot since day one.
At this point of time, we have raised about $5,000, which is a little under where we want to be. However we are determined to go the extra mile to get the remaining money. We have brainstormed some new fundraising ideas and we are excited to potentially hold our very own Gala event. It would essentially be our own version of the “Make the Magic” event that a lot of other chapters have. We have been working very hard to try to make this event a reality, so stay tuned!
Right now, we are really excited to announce that we have confirmed 3 campers for this summer! In the end, we are doing this for these amazing and brave children so we are beyond excited to finally meet them during our first week of camp!
One of the best parts about Camp Kesem was adding our very own league of energetic and incredible camp counselors. After the interviewing process, we are so thrilled to welcome these new counselors to our CK family! We are really looking forward to showing them the passion and dedication for the organization and help them get pumped for this summer.
Last but not least, PR has greatly improved since we got here. We have gone from being largely unrecognized to very familiar on campus, which makes our efforts seem worthy. We have been able to educate many students and members of the Cleveland community about our cause and what we are striving for. We are so passionate about what we do and we just want the community and the world to hear it!
This post turned out to be a lot longer than expected, but we just had a lot of exciting things we wanted to tell you all about! Thank you so much for your support, stay posted and have a magical day!
