What year was Camp Kesem at UCLA found?
2004. This will be our 9th year at UCLA.
How many campers attend your camp?
We currently have a total of 145 campers including CIT and Teen categories.
How many counselors attend your camp?
Due to our 2:1 ratio, we have about 65 counselors plus additional professional staff.
Where is your campsite?
Our campsite is located in Idyllwild, CA at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
What type of children does your chapter serve?
We serve children ages 6-16 who have or have had a parent living with cancer from the Greater Los Angeles Area. We also have a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for those who have graduated from our Teen Program.
What type of activities do you guys participate in during the week of camp?
We do all sorts of fun activities that range from swimming, archery, fishing, arts & crafts, sports, dance & drama, adventure & nature, to a ropes course. We also have theme days, a carnival, special guest performers, and other programmed activities. In addition to all the fun and silliness, we program more serious activities such as the Empowerment Program, Parent Memorial Service, and Cabin Chats, to allow our campers the opportunity to reflect and share their personal experiences back at home.
How can I apply to be a camper?
Our applications are out typically in the beginning of the Winter! Come back during that time to our website for the application which can be found here.
How can I become a counselor at Camp Kesem UCLA?
Find us on Bruin Walk usually during weeks 4 and 5 of Winter Quarter and refer to the counselor application under our ‘Get Involved’ tab. Being a counselor at camp requires being a UCLA student, fundraising a minimum of $500, attending weekly spring training sessions, and attending camp which is June 23rd – June 29th this year.
How can I donate to your chapter?

I do not live in LA. Can my kid still attend your camp?
We serve children in the Greater Los Angeles Area (Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange counties). You can also find a camp near you by clicking here.
