Camp Kesem was created for children between the ages of 6-16 whose parents have or has had cancer. This is a free overnight camp that allows the children to gain strength and confidence, make friends in similar circumstances, and just have fun! Our goal is to build a supportive community here in Austin for these families through camp and subsequent camper reunions.
This year, Camp Kesem Texas will also be offering a councilor in training (CIT) program! This means that children over the age of 16 can still participate in Camp Kesem by assisting councilors and campers while experiencing a brand new side of camp! If you or someone you know might be interested in being a CIT, please contact us!
Though our main focus is on the children, Camp Kesem also changes college students in a major way. The organization is completely organized and run by a group of full-time undergraduate students. Camp allows them to gain leadership skills, enthusiasm to help others, and experience working in a non-profit organization.
Camp Kesem - Texas was founded in 2011, and our first camp ever was held in August 2012! Hook’em \m/
