Camp Kesem at Stanford is open to children in the greater San Francisco Bay Area whose parent has or have had cancer. Camp Kesem Stanford serves around 120 campers entering 2nd-9th grades in the fall following camp. Camp Kesem is a secular camp and is open to all children regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, or financial status. Due to the financial burden experienced by families coping with cancer, Camp Kesem is provided free of charge to the families it serves. Applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with consideration to ensure an appropriate balance of age and gender. Applications for new campers are available here. Once a camper attends camp, he or she is guaranteed a spot at camp in the following years, up until the camper is no longer eligible to attend camp. So what is life like for a Kesem camper??
