Here’s what families have to say about Camp Kesem:
“I just have to say a huge thank you to you all! Our 3 girls had a fabulous time. After a little mom and dad love and a nap they were ready to come back to camp! They wanted to get up this morning and put on their bug spray and sun screen and hit the activities. The memories you all gave my children [are] so awesome. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to our children. Also, the letters you wrote to them just made me weep. We will treasure them forever. I’m sure you heard things this past week that you could never imagine that one little person could take. They do it like champs. Thanks for giving them a fun week and leaving cancer in the shadows for a little bit. Can’t wait for the reunion! You made a difference in their lives!”

Our very first camp was August 3rd – 8th, 2014 at Camp Uskichitto in Leblanc, Louisiana! The camp is about 3 hours away from the Houston-area, and we rented a bus to get everyone there and back safely. Uskichitto Retreat Center has extensive facilities and activities for all campers. The cabins were fully air-conditioned, and there were also cabins that are handicap accessible. Activities/facilities include a swimming pool, low ropes course, archery, rock climbing tower, canoeing, playground, sport courts, and more!
All our counselors are student volunteers from Rice University. In addition to having extensively trained, CPR & First Aid certified counselors, we will have full-time professional staff on site, including 2 registered nurses and one certified mental health professional.
