What is Camp Kesem Week?

Camp Kesem Week is a week-long publicity and fundraising campaign on campus,  during the week of April 7-12. The goal of Camp Kesem Week is to allow the Rice community to experience the magic that is Camp Kesem, and to actively engage and empower Rice students to become advocates for our mission and values. Camp Kesem provides kids affected by a parent’s cancer with a safe, fun, and accepting community that creates memories and makes an impact that lasts a lifetime. Through Camp Kesem Week, we hope that Rice students are able to catch a glimpse of what Camp Kesem is all about. Come experience the magic!

What is the Community Info Night?

Camp Kesem Rice’s Community Information Night is an event for any and all community members interested in participating in, supporting, or learning more about Camp Kesem and its mission. We welcome potential camper families, advocates, donors, and volunteers. We will be sharing our mission, explaining Camp Kesem Rice’s unique impact on the Houston community, introducing our programs, and discussing ways to get involved, followed by a Q & A session. We also welcome you to bring your children – we will have our wonderful, highly trained counselors at hand to provide childcare and a small taste of camp.

Parking is available in the Central Campus Garage. The information night will be held on Rice University campus, in Keck Hall 100. Rice University campus map can be found here: www.rice.edu/maps/bwmap.pdf. Please e-mail rice@campkesem.org with any questions.

What is the Student Donate Campaign?

The Student Donate Campaign of Camp Kesem Week will be launched on Monday, April 7th, and will end on Saturday, April 12th. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage Rice students to give financially, in support of our efforts to address the unique needs of children affected by a parent’s cancer. All donations are tax-deductible. As a token of our appreciation, we are giving out Camp Kesem Rice swag bags to the first 100 students who donate a minimum of $10 during Camp Kesem Week. The swag bag includes a Camp Kesem drawstring bag, a 3”x4” Camp Kesem vinyl sticker (for a variety of surfaces like laptops and windows), a Livestrong band, a Camp Kesem button, and a ticket for the gift card drawing on Field Day (Saturday, 4/12).

2 ways to participate in the Student Donate Campaign:

Keep your eyes peeled for donations boxes at our Camp Kesem Week events. When you donate $10 or more, make sure your name and contact information are recorded.
