Camp Kesem is open to all children between the ages of 6 and 16 who have a caregiver that has been in remission, is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, or has passed away. Camp Kesem is free to all campers thanks to the generosity of our donors. To register a camper, please click Register a Camper on the left hand side of the page.
Although we want our campers to have the week of their lives, safety is still our number one priority. There will be a 3:1 camper:counselor ratio at all times at camp, which is much higher than the industry average. All of our counselors go through background checks as well as intensive training to ensure that they are well equipped to handle any situation. Along with our 22 counselors, we will also have a registered nurse and a certified mental health professional at camp 24/7. Certified lifeguards will be present during all aquatic activities.
Children who have or have had a guardian with cancer show no signs of physical symptoms, so their emotional needs often go unnoticed. Many times, they are left feeling alone because they can’t relate to any of their own peers. At Camp Kesem, we provide a safe environment where children in very similar situations can come together to support each other. The purpose of Camp Kesem is more than just a week at camp. We provide children with the self confidence to handle their situation better as well as a peer support network of both campers and counselors that they can rely on throughout the year. When you sign your child up for Camp Kesem, you sign them up for more than just five days of camp. You sign them up to be a part of a Kesem family that lasts for years to come. After camp, there will be reunions planned throughout the year to foster the growth of this peer support network. Simply put, when you sign your child up for Camp Kesem, you sign them up for more than just five days of camp. You sign them up to be a part of a Kesem family that lasts for years to come.
