University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Our Mission

  • To give respite care to families affected by cancer, while providing the children with a week-long camp free of charge. Camp Kesem creates a lifelong support system to get through potentially the hardest time of these families’ lives.
  • To encourage leadership on UNL’s campus. Since each chapter is considered their own non-profit, we work as our own entity to plan and organize this week of camp.

Who attends Camp Kesem?

Children ages 6-16, who have had or has a parent affected by cancer, may attend Camp Kesem free of charge.  Camp Kesem is free to allow children to attend a summer camp who otherwise may not be able to because of the financial burden put on the family from a parent’s cancer.  All of the funding for the camp is raised by the coordinating team and other student volunteers.

Camp Details

Camp Kesem 2013 will take place June 16th-21st  at the Y Camp in Boone, Iowa.  Campers and counselors will be bussed to camp from the UNL campus.
