I became involved with Camp Kesem because of a current counselor who lived in my hometown and have been hooked on CK every since my first week of camp. I could not be any happier that I found this amazing organization and cannot wait for camp this summer.

My name is Abi Yates and I’m a Sophomore majoring in Telecommunications with a minor in Communications and Culture. I’m from Bloomington IN, and decided to attend IU because I love the school and the campus. I have been involved in Camp Kesem since I was 11 years old and attended as a Camper. I love Camp Kesem and that is why I continued to do it as a volunteer at IU. I have experienced the magic from both sides and I think that I am amazingly lucky to have this organization in my life.

My name is Lisa “Bandaid” Fink, and I am a senior majoring in Microbiology and Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. I’m from Noblesville, Indiana, and I chose to attend IU because of its amazing premed program and honors college. I started working with Camp Kesem’s Programming Committee as a freshman, and I’ve loved it ever since! The Camp Kesem family is the strongest, most fun, and most caring group of people that I have ever met. My name is Maxine Laszlo and I am a sophomore studying Nonprofit Management and African Studies. My hometown is Evansville, IN, where I spend time humming camp songs, making friendship bracelets, and waiting to go back to Princeton, IN where the magic happens at CAMP KESEM. I heard about Camp Kesem from a “fishy” counselor, who told me I had to do camp because it would make my life. AND SHE WAS RIGHT! Camp Kesem truly does leave an imprint on the hearts of campers and counselors. Counting down the days until CKIU 2013!

My name is Kristen Elfering and I am a junior majoring in Management and Marketing with a minor in Music. I am originally from Lake Zurich, IL but decided to attend IU because of the business and music programs here at IU and of course the beautiful campus. I have met so many wonderful people through it who have become my best friends and my second family.

My name is Jordan “Boomer” Schutz and I am a sophomore with a Human Biology major and a dance minor. I am originally from Evansville, IN and chose to attend Indiana University because of the great science program, big ten atmosphere, and can’t forget, the gorgeous campus. I heard about camp through an alum from my hometown and got involved with the fundraising committee my freshman year. Joining Camp Kesem was the best decision I made coming into college and I cannot picture myself without the friendships and memories that I have made thus far, and will continue to make with the years to come.

Hello! My name is Steve “Hobbes” Jastrow and I am a junior studying Sport Marketing/Management with minors in business and informatics.  I am from Naperville, Illinois and found my way to IU because of the amazing campus and great Sports Business program that they offer.  I became involved with CK after a couple friends told me it was the best thing they have done during their own college careers.  I always had an interest in being a camp counselor after spending time as a kid at a lot of them back home.  I have to agree with my friends that this is the best decision I’ve made during my time at IU and look forward to two more years with CKIU.

I became involved with Camp Kesem my freshman year when Crush brought me to a call out meeting with her. I feel so lucky to have found this organization full of amazing students and families where I feel I can truly make a difference. I am so happy that I’ve been able to take this leadership role and help make camp possible. I’m so excited to go to camp this summer and see all of our hard work pay off.

I got involved with Camp Kesem first semester my freshman year because I knew some of the returning counselors. I joined the programming committee and fell in love with this organization. I feel so lucky to be a part of such an amazing group of people. I’m so happy to have this leadership position because I see firsthand how we can all make a difference in the lives of the families that we help. My name is Michael “Shammy” Dempsey and I am currently a junior at Indiana University majoring in Secondary Education(Social Studies). I got involved in Camp Kesem my freshmen year and have been in love with it since day 1! The friends I have made through camp have become some of my best friends today and even feel like family. The kids at our camp are the most inspirational people I have ever had the honor to meet and spend the best week of my life with. Their tragic stories give me hope each and everyday and I could not be more blessed to be involved in this amazing organization.
