Meet the Team

I am Slurpee, a psychology major for a pre med track and a senior at FGCU.
I chose CK after a friend at Miami introduced me to the positive effects Camp Kesem can have, it inspired me to try and bring #CKMagic to FGCU and the surrounding community! I have dual citizen with US and UK and my fav quote is that “Everything happens for a reason.”

Hello! I’m freckles and I’m currently a senior at FGCU studying communication and minoring in digital media design. I love spending time with friends and family, music and I’m a huge foodie! I am so excited to be apart of the Camp Kesem team and can’t wait to see what this year at camp brings!

I’m Giggles, and I’m a junior majoring in Elementary & Special Education. Camp Kesem is such an amazing organization. My mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2005, this year we had the opportunity to celebrate 12 years with my mom being tumor free. I love everything that Camp Kesem stands for and can’t wait to meet our campers, CLAM!! Some of my favorite hobbies are living in the library, going to concerts, hanging with my sisters, or watching Netflix.

I’m Willow, and I joined Camp Kesem because I believe in it’s mission and I wanted to help bring the #CKMagic to all the kiddos participating in FGCU’s first year of camp!” A fun fact about me is that my Myers-Briggs personality type is INFJ “The Advocate”
My favorite food is sushi and my favorite hobbies are reading, baking, going on adventures with friends, and petting puppies!

I’m Smiley and I’m studying Communication with a concentration in PR.
I chose Camp Kesem because I want to be a part of something bigger than myself & give children what I needed at their age. I love the beach & anywhere near an Italian eatery is my safe haven. (I’m the type of girl who eats dessert before dinner). A fun fact about me is I love music, writing & things/people that make me happy!

Hello, I’m Thumper! Currently I am a senior majoring in Social work.
I joined Camp Kesem because I wanted to help make a difference in these kids and their families lives. My favorite hobbies include traveling, hanging out with friends, shopping! My favorite quote is“She is clothed in strength and dignity and she can laugh without the fear of the future.”

How Kesem National Supports This Chapter

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.

The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.

Meet This Chapter's Program Director

Jean-Luc Rivera, Regional Program Director – jean-luc@kesem.org

Jean-Luc joined the Camp Kesem National team in 2017 as a Regional Program Director. He first got involved with Camp Kesem in 2014 as a counselor with the Camp Kesem at North Carolina chapter and returned as a counselor again for his senior year. After graduating, he worked for Camp Corral, a camping nonprofit that provides military children with a free camping experience. There he was able to learn the ropes of the camping world and develop his passion for camp even more.
