Our Staff

Camp Kesem Emory is made up of 13 coordinators who work hard throughout the year to make camp a success. There are five committees (Administration & Camp Programming, Camper Care, Fundraising, Public Relations & Special Events and Student Support), each one led by 2 or 3 co-coordinators, and 2 co-chairs that oversee all of the committees.

Meet your Co-Chairs!

Liz “Bojangles” Carson

Bojangles is a junior at Emory majoring in Anthropology & Human Biology and minoring in Community Building & Social Change (say that 3 times fast!). She loves wearing CK gear and enjoyed taking pictures at camp this year. When she isn’t working with Camp Kesem, you can find her drinking cups on cups of coffee, listening to Disney or Christmas music, and perusing dailyotter.org. Bojangles is in no way affiliated with the chicken franchise, and is adamant that she had the name first.

Camille “Reese’s” Nelson

Reese’s is a senior at Emory majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Theater Studies. This is her third year being involved with Camp Kesem Emory! During her sophomore year, she was an Admin coordinator, and was a co-chair during her junior year. After having a wonderful time at camp last summer, she looks forward to being a co-chair again! Her new favorite camp song is “Toast.” And she loves eating s’mores with Reese’s peanut butter cups instead of Hershey’s chocolate bars!

Administration & Camp Programming

Sarah “Kermit” Cohen

Kermit, from Westport, CT, is a sophomore at Emory University. She is majoring in Sociology. This is her first year involved with Camp Kesem and she is extremely excited. Kermit is a coordinator of Administration and Camp Programming. She’s a sucker for a good rom-com, and she also likes really bad puns.

Ninju “Bubbles” Kasi

Bubbles is a Neuroscience and Anthropology major from the Jersey Shore. She is one of this year’s Admin and Camp Programming coordinators, and she loves animals. Bubbles has a long term goal of becoming a pediatric oncologist. For the time being though, she spends her days fighting villains like MoJo JoJo and planning awesome camp activities.

Camper Care

Hannah “Nala” Williams

Nala is a senior at Emory majoring in Philosophy and this year’s Camper Care co-coordinator. She has enjoyed Camp Kesem so much that she has now been coming back for three years! Her favorite camp activities include dancing and singing to “Ride the Pony.” Nala is very passionate about Kesem’s cause and always looks forward to spending time with campers!

Zack “Ketchup” Ketchum

Ketchup, a Georgia native, is a sophomore at Emory. He went from being a rookie counselor this summer to one of this year’s Camper Care coordinator. Ketchup is a huge soccer fan, which makes him an awesome person to have on your cabin’s kickball team! If you ask him, his favorite musical artist is Shakira, but really he loves any song led by his co-counselor Oranges.

Fundraising

Sarah “Neuron” Harrington

Neuron is a Junior at Emory who is majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. This is her second year with Camp Kesem Emory as a Fundraising Coordinator and she absolutely loves working with Camp Kesem. Her favorite camp song is “I Get Loose!” but has recently found a new love for “Toast”. She is super excited for camp this year and is eager to spread the word about Camp Kesem Emory. The only thing that comes close to her love of fundraising is her love of dolphins. You can almost always find her at the Georgia Aquarium!

Cindy “Cricket” Chen

Cricket is a sophomore at Emory, where she is pre-business and an applied mathematics major. This is her first year on Camp Kesem Exec, and she can’t wait to start crunching numbers. When Cricket isn’t hopping around to fundraising events, you can find her around Emory at various arts auditions and events!

Parisa “Flower” Mahboob

Public Relations & Special Events

Nicole “Princess” Rawald

Gracing us with her royal presence all the way from the UK, Princess is a sophomore at Emory majoring in International Studies and minoring in Sociology. This is her second year with Camp Kesem Emory. Last year she was a committee member in Student Support and this year she is a PR coordinator. She really fell in love with the camp this summer and loves playing “Little Sally Walker.” She really can’t wait for Summer 2013 and really wants to help Camp Kesem grow.

Maydda “Dumbo” Qureshi

Dumbo is a junior at Emory, double majoring in English and Biology. This is her first year being involved with Camp Kesem, as the Special Events Coordinator. She really looks forward to going to camp this year and meeting all the awesome campers! She just hopes they won’t make fun of her ears…or lack thereof.

Student Support

Audry “Cheerios” Klossner

Cheerios is a junior at Emory majoring in Economics and minoring in Global Health. This is the second year she will be involved with Camp Kesem Emory. Last year she was a counselor but loved camp so much she is returning this year as a student support coordinator! She is so excited to see all the new and returning faces at camp this year! Contrary to popular belief, she is not named after the General Mills breakfast cereal, but takes her inspiration from the television show Glee (and her “cheery” disposition).

Monica “FroYo” Yang

FroYo is a current junior in the Emory College of Arts and Science. She is double majoring in International Studies and Philosophy. She loves Camp Kesem because of the AMAZING campers and families, and the wonderful group of student partners she is able to work with! Her favorite camp chant is “Hey Burrito!” but “Shake Your Booty” is a close favorite.
