Elise Lyon! Counselor of the Week!
Elise is a Freshman at Augustana College majoring in CSD and minoring in Psychology! Elise is involved in many organizations at Augie including: Delta Chi Theta, OSL, ASSHA, Psychology Cub, Augustana College Admissions, Opportunity Kicks Tutoring, and last but certainly not least Camp Kesem! An interesting fact about Elise is that she can do the Irish Jig and her dream job has always been to be a dolphin trainer. Elise knew she wanted to get involved in Camp Kesem when she heard about its great mission to help kids. She think that having parents with cancer is something no child should have to deal with, but while we are working on a cure for cancer it’s important that these kids know they are not forgotten. Elise had 4 young cousins who lost their father and her uncle to cancer and she watched how hard it was for everyone. They were able to go to a similar camp in the summer and she saw how much they enjoyed being with kids who had gone through the same thing and were still able to have a fun time. This was the first organization Elise joined on campus and she couldn’t be happier to be a part of such a great cause. She am so happy to have the opportunity to make these kids summers amazing and be a leader and friend to everyone involved in Camp Kesem. Way to go Elise! Keep up the good work!
