June 18, 2012 CK OSU Day 1Day 1 @ Headquarters: Braving the thunderstorm pouring down, all twenty of our campers arrived at camp today! With camp counselors Spirit, Daisy and Barbie escorting them back and forth under an umbrella, all of them arrived safely at “Headquarters” to check in and create their new names and nametags. At Camp Kesem, everyone gives themselves a “camp name.” Don’t slip up and call someone by their “real” name—that will result in you hugging a tree! The campers are so creative—do you know which kid is yours? Rain Next the counselors, or rather, the “Magic Keepers” were introduced. The theme all week is “superheroes,” and our campers are our Kesem superheroes—the people protecting the Kesem magic from an evil villain who will be popping up from time to time this week at camp. We ate a delicious dinner of fried chicken and mashed potatoes and after dinner played some ice-breakers and name games. We rounded the day out with a campfire complete with delicious s’mores. The campers learned so many camp songs throughout the afternoon, and by the end of the night many of them were asking to lead the songs! They’ve headed to bed for calming cabin chat and lights out. Hopefully they get some rest, because boy do we have a busy and fun-filled week ahead! Make sure you go to www.twitter.com/CampKesemOSU for updates and photos throughout the day! -Bear, Teal, Keds, Marzi and Gramps The Admin Team Comments |
Thank you so much for the updates. It makes it a lot easier being away from the kids like this. Enjoy your day.

I woke up at 3:45 a.m. and could not get back to sleep this morning thinking about my son. This is his first time away from home. Thank you for what you are doing and hope you are enjoying all the kids.

Sharon–
You do not need a Twitter account to view the pictures. Simply go to http://www.twitter.com/CampKesemOSU and scroll through the posts. There will be a “View Photo” option you can select and if that doesn’t work, click on the link and it will open a new tab.
