Camp Kesem MN 2013: Day 2
Day 2 was our first FULL day at camp this year! What more? It was DISNEY DAY!!! All of our campers and counselors dressed as their favorite Disney/Pixar characters, and it was definitely a sight to see how creative some of the costumes were.
The beginning of our day started out with breakfast, as usual, followed by learning some fun new songs! Some of the favorites include “Hey Burrito”, “Form the Corn”, and “Down by the Bay”.
All of our programs today had something to relate back to our theme: Little Mermaid necklaces in arts-n-crafts, Jungle Book hike in nature, and Minion Gooberball in sports – a huge hit with all of the age groups!!!
After lunch, we got to SWIM! And you know what that means… We tried out the BLOB! It’s safe to say that it was one of the highlights of the day. Counselors and campers swam out to our trampoline and took turns launching each other off of the giant blob… You’ll have to see to believe how high some of the campers got!
Papa Bear (Goldie, Tootie, and Mojo’s dad) came to help out and lead an activity for the teenagers. As their service project this year they constructed birdhouses to post around camp, and each got to create one to take home as well! It was an awesome way to give back to Camp North Star!
After dinner, our last activity was for all ages together: BONKERS. This crazy version of freeze tag involved “bonkers”, or taggers, dressed up in the craziest outfits chasing after other campers and counselors with balls of flour. Add in a couple games of “Sharks and Minnows” at the end and all of our campers and counselors were completely wiped out.
We all slept well that night! Can’t wait to see what Day 3 has in store, it’s the return of Evil Shazaam for Sci-Fi and Mad Scientist Day!!! We’ll let you all know how it goes!
