Camp Kesem 2014 is taking shape!
Your friends at Camp Kesem UGA have been very busy!
From interviews to fundraising-check out what we’ve been up to!
Just today we’ve completed interviews and the application process, and have added 33 great new counselors to our amazing Camp Kesem family! This group is full of dedicated and talented individuals, and we are so excited for them to experience the magic of camp this summer! We had more applicants this year than ever, and the growth that camp is experiencing this year only makes us more excited for the years to come.
Almost two weeks ago, we announced our awesome camp theme: CK Under the Sea! We hope you’re including your floaties, snorkels, swimsuits, and flippers to your packing list! Our activities and camp crafts will reflect our theme, and maybe we’ll even have a few “under the sea” style dance parties? Can’t wait to find out! Special thanks to our Operations Coordinators for their creative smarts and hard work to give us such an exciting camp theme! Campers: remember to submit your t-shirt designs! Please draw your best design for the back of the t-shirt that represents our them. The more creative, the better! We will undergo a careful judging process to select the winning artwork, which will appear on the back of the t-shirts that everyone receives the week of camp! Please submit all artwork to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than March 1st to be considered in the contest! We can’t wait to see the amazing artwork that comes our way!
We also want to thank everyone who came out to Make the Magic this month! It was our first fundraising event in Atlanta, and we’re so happy to say that it was fantastic! We enjoyed great live music, a delicious dinner, an impressive cupcake display and silent auction, and beautiful speeches that reminded us of why we love Camp Kesem so much. With your help, our success from Make the Magic allowed us to send 34 more kids to camp this summer, and we’ve almost raised 71% of our fundraising goal for the year! We truly could not do this without you, and we can’t begin to thank you enough. Our counselors and executive board continue to fundraise (we’re even having a percentage night at Jason’s Deli next Tuesday–check out the event details) and we hope that these efforts will help us create a sustainable future for Camp Kesem UGA.
Even more great numbers, we have 42 campers signed up for camp already! Camper applications are currently live across the nation in all 54 chapters of Camp Kesem–so spread the word! If you know any children 6-16 who have been affected by a parent’s battle with cancer & could benefit from the magic of Camp Kesem, please pass this on to them! There are camps held all across the country so we can provide support to as many children as possible! You can access our camper application here.
