Meet the Team

Hi, my name is Schmem. I grew up in West Virginia and I have 4 sisters. I am currently a student at BYU and I want to be a pediatric physical therapist. I love watching sports, going on hikes, baking cupcakes, and going on picnics! I love Camp Kesem and meeting so many kids who inspire me to be better! I am so excited to help plan camp this year!

Hi, my name is Fritz, I am from Portland, OR. My Hobbies include music, playing the cello, basketball, and Netflix. I love going to watch sports. I am studying economics and I am also pre-med. I care about Kesem and cancer so much because I have a younger brother who passed away from bone cancer and I know what it’s like to not have the type of support that Kesem provides during the hardest thing of your life.

Hi, I’m Gummy Bear, I am from Salt Lake City Utah and the oldest of four children. I am currently a sixth grade teacher (internship) and I graduate at the end of this year. I love traveling, reading, eating and spending time with people. I love being outdoors, hiking and camping as well.

Hi, my name is Tarzan and I’m from West Jordan, UT and the oldest of 7 children or a family of 9. Poly Family – #smallestpolyintheworld I’m Half-Tongan
I am studying Exercise Science/Pre-Med at BYU. My Goals are to be admitted into a Medical School so I can further help minority groups, especially the Polynesian community. My hobbies are fishing, camping, hiking, backpacking, any sport, watching movies and just chillin with the homies.

Hello friends! My name is Sam Jacobsen but my heroes call me Blondie and I am a Volunteer Coordinator for Camp Kesem at BYU. I am studying Psychology with a Business minor. After graduation, I plan to go into the Human Resources Management field. I am from Marysville Washington and I love hamburgers, pizza and Chinese food. I Kesem because these kids have shown me that it’s okay to have fun when life is hard and it’s okay to be sad.

My name is Serenade and I am from Apple Valley, California. I have amazing parents and 3 sisters who are my best friends. I am an Elementary Education major at BYU. I love working with kids. I can’t imagine not being involved with this great organization. These kids have impacted me so deeply. The kids at camp kesem have taught me that I can become anything I want to become at Camp and I can find the positive in everything. I am a better person because of them and this organization.

Countless individuals – including our families and friends who honor our commitment to Camp Kesem with their financial support and unwavering encouragement.

Nationwide Community

How Kesem National Supports This Chapter

Kesem’s national staff of over 30 professionals is involved in all aspects of establishing and supporting each of our 100+ chapters nationwide as well as the training and oversight of all college student leaders. Our leadership program has been developed over the last 17 years and, while both rigorous and demanding, is focused on providing the highest level of support, service and safety for the children who participate in our programs.

The Kesem Program Director for this chapter (see below) is involved in all aspects of camp and our additional services. While your local student leaders are your primary contact for questions, you are also welcome and encouraged to contact their Program Director with other specific questions.
