15027457435_17ef0433ec_oAt camp we create a safe, supportive, fun environment in which campers support each other and emerge from the week with increased self-esteem and understanding that they are not alone. Camp Kesem Berkeley is free of charge to any camper aged 6 to 16 and children with special needs are welcome.

To give you an idea of what Camp Kesem is like, here are a few of our past camp activities:

  • Nature hikes
  • Go carting
  • Canoeing
  • Rock climbing
  • Archery
  • Swimming at the pool
  • Sports
  • Riding the zip-line
  • Arts and crafts
  • Singing songs by the campfire
  • Performing skits
  • Water Olympics

Camp Kesem Berkeley has a teen program that focuses on leadership development in our campers ages 13 to 16. This teen unit has slightly different programming than the rest of the camp. Activities that only the teen unit do include an overnight camping trip (outside of the cabins) and a ropes course. They are still integrated with the camp, eating meals and participating in all-camp activities with everyone else. If you have any questions, you can email our Teen Unit Operations Coordinator, Wrigley, at

In addition, we are thrilled to begin a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program for teens ages 17 & 18. This is to bridge the gap between the time a camper graduates from Camp Kesem to the time when they attend college and can become Camp Kesem counselors themselves. Counselor’s in training will develop their leadership skills and learn what it means to be a counselor!  If you have any questions, you can email our Volunteer/CIT Coordinator at
