Camp Kesem Berkeley
Camp Kesem Berkeley is a non-profit, student-run organization that provides a free, week-long summer camp for children who have been affected by a parent’s cancer. In August 2013, Camp Kesem Berkeley held two separate camps for the first time in its history, and we are continuing this new tradition! We had a great two weeks in 2014, and now the coordinator team is already getting ready for summer 2015!
Camp Kesem Berkeley was founded in 2006 at the University of California, Berkeley to provide a safe, supportive, and fun summer camp experience to local children whose parents have died from cancer, are in treatment for cancer, or are in remission from cancer.
In 2014 alone, Camp Kesem Berkeley empowered over 130 campers and over 70 student volunteers in leadership positions. During the school year, students plan the camp schedule, train to be camp counselors, work with eligible families in the community, and raise funds to ensure camp is free for all involved. This year we hope to take 170 campers and over 80 volunteers to camp!
Thank You Donors!
We had an amazing two weeks of camp with 138 campers and 70 counselors experiencing the magic of Camp Kesem. Thank you to all of our donors for making it possible to allow so many kids to have the opportunity to be a kid again! We cannot make camp happen without your support and every dollar makes a difference.
