ASU History

1st Year: 2007
Our very first year was a tremendous success! We raised over $17,000 and 19 kids attended our week-long camp. Our campsite was the YMCA’s Camp Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, AZ. Our staff consisted of a nurse, therapist, camp director, and 15 counselors.

2nd Year: 2008
This was our second year and we continued to improve our program! We raised over $24,000 and 36 kids attended our weeklong camp. Our campsite was the YMCA’s Camp Sky-Y in Prescott, AZ. Our staff consisted of a nurse, therapist, camp director, and 21 counselors.

3rd Year: 2009
Our third year of camp was marked by incredible growth! This year we hosted a teen program for the first time; six teens were in attendance. We raised over $44,000 and brought a total of 48 kids to camp! Camp was hosted at Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, AZ. Our staff included a nurse, therapist, camp director, teen camp director, and 30 counselors.

4th Year: 2010
This was our biggest year yet! With 53 campers in our general program and 16 campers in our teen program, we hosted a total of 69 kids. Camp was held at Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, AZ from July 12th to the 17th. Our   staff was comprised of a nurse, therapist, camp director, teen camp director, and 38 counselors.

5th Year: 2011
This was a year of tremendous success and growth! A total of 83 campers were able to attend camp, making us the second largest Camp Kesem in the nation. We raised $53,000 for the camp this year that was hosted at Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, AZ. Our staff consisted of a nurse, therapist, camp director, teen camp director and 49 counselors.

6th Year: 2012
We continue to expand! This year a total of 96 campers were able to attend camp, including 16 teen campers. Camp was located again at Chauncey Ranch in Mayer, AZ from July 9th to the 14th. Our staff included a nurse, therapist, camp director, teen camp director and 46 counselors.

7th Year: 2013
Camp Kesem ASU reached over 100 campers this year! In addition we also introduced a new CiT (Counselor in Training) program and had 5 amazing former campers for our inaugural year. We moved to Camp Tontozona, a much larger site, in Payson, Arizona. You could say that July 8th-13th was the best week of the summer hands down!
